You can expect some bleeding, swelling, and bruising following dental implant surgery. The pain should reach its peak around 6 hours after your surgery. Be sure to take all pain medications as prescribed.
It’s important to keep a record of the times when you take our medication so you won’t take it too often. You can also use an icepack to reduce swelling around the surgical site.
Things to Avoid After Implant Surgery
In addition to taking it easy for a while, you’ll also want to avoid the following things that can aggravate the implant site and threaten your recovery:
- Hot beverages
- Hard or sharp-edged foods
- Drinking through a straw
- Alcoholic beverages
- Demanding physical activity
